Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative

The MACC Fund is a proud member of the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative, a statewide coalition of organizations working together to reduce the burden of cancer for everyone in Wisconsin. The collaborative serves the organizations on the front lines of cancer care and prevention—health care systems, patient advocacy groups, public health departments, and other partners who work every day to create healthier communities. The MACC Fund joined the collaborative in 2023 to advocate for pediatric cancer issues.

Wisconsin Cancer Plan 2020-2030

The Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative’s work is guided by the Wisconsin Cancer Plan, a “living document” that combines best practices, reliable data, and concrete action steps for all Wisconsinites engaged in cancer work. Advised by pediatric cancer organizations, including the MACC Fund, the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative has included children in the most recent version, addressing many of the unique needs of children with cancer.

Wisconsin Childhood Cancer Action Plan 2024-2028

On August 5, 2024, the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative released the Wisconsin Childhood Cancer Action Plan 2024-2028. This Childhood Cancer Action Plan aims to increase awareness, education, and care given to children with cancer. The Action Plan also addresses the long-term physical, psychological, and psychosocial impacts cancer has on patients throughout their lifetime, and on their families, support systems, and care teams.

The MACC Fund is proud to have collaborated with the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative and childhood cancer advocates on developing this action plan. It has received feedback from national and local organizations involved with childhood cancer work and the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Steering Committee.

This is a significant step forward for the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin ranks 19th in the nation for incidence of pediatric cancer, 8th for pediatric leukemia, 13th for pediatric brain and central nervous system tumors, and 13th for pediatric sarcomas. The MACC Fund is thrilled to see childhood cancer be prioritized in our state and is moved by the real hope this action plan will offer families when people, institutions, and organizations throughout our state take ownership of the part they can play in the fight against childhood cancer.

The Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative invites anyone in Wisconsin to engage in the action steps in this document. They also indicate action steps the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative staff plans to lead. To share progress on your work on these action steps, please contact info@wicancer.org.
