Christopher’s Shoot for MACC Fund Raises over $130,000 for MACC Fund

On July 10th, the Fifth Annual Christopher’s Shoot Against Childhood Cancer was held at the Waukesha Gun Club. The event was inspired by, and honors, eight year-old Christopher Schraufnagel’s battle against medulloblastoma–a form of childhood cancer that attacks the brain and spinal cord. Sadly, Christopher lost his fight on June 27th of 2012 and this event is dedicated to his dream to find a cure

More than two hundred shooters came from across the state to enjoy a great day of shooting sporting clays. Their entry fees along with a live and silent auction helped the event raise $135,000 for the MACC Fund which supports childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.

On Thursday, September 10, Jon McGlocklin, the President and co-Founder of the MACC Fund will accept a check from the Schraufnagel Family at the Waukesha Gun Club, N22W23170 Watertown Road, Waukesha, WI. The check presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m.

The MACC Fund supports translational research in the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and scientific research in the MACC Fund Research Center of the Medical College of Wisconsin and in the MACC Fund Childhood Cancer Research Wing at the University of Wisconsin’s Carbone Cancer Center.  Since the MACC Fund began in 1976, it has contributed over $54 million to pediatric cancer and blood disorder research in Wisconsin which has impacted the treatment and cure of children throughout the state, the nation and the world.  The overall cure rate for childhood cancer has risen from 20% to over 80% in the past thirty-six years with MACC Fund.
