Mascots from several area sports teams and businesses are joining together to greet children on Friday, December 12 for the 18th Annual Mascot Night on Candy Cane Lane. Mascots will be greeting visitors from 7-9 p.m. Donations collected by volunteers every evening in December benefit the MACC Fund – Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc.
Mascots scheduled to appear include: Bernie Brewer and the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club’s Famous Racing Sausages ™, Milwaukee Buck’s Bango, Dancers and Hoop Troop; Seymour the North Shore Bank Seagull, McGruff, Parky the Manor Park Bear, the Madison Mallard, Roundy’s Shopping Bags, Batzner Pest Management’s Hissing Hank, Fleet Feet Pete and Oly the Olympus banner.
The West Allis neighborhood is bounded by Oklahoma and Montana Avenues and 92nd to 96th Street. Neighbors will join together to show the spirit of the holiday season during “Sharing Christmas”, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. every evening in December. People come from all over the Midwest to drive or stroll through this uniquely decorated neighborhood. The event is free, but visitors may leave a donation if they wish. These donations translate into a perpetual gift of hope and life for children with cancer.
Great things are being accomplished in the MACC Fund Research Center of the Medical College of Wisconsin, in the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as well as in the MACC Fund Childhood Cancer Research Wing at the University of Wisconsin’s Carbone Cancer Center.
